The Ascent is a book cover I designed and illustrated for a client. The narrative focuses on a Catholic reimagining of the afterlife (purgatory) set in a fantasy-based realm. I wove a natural flow ascending through a mystical color scheme to represent an upward path through the imaginative, dreamy landscape of the story's setting. Through consideration of symbolization critical to the client's message, I incorporated images of an owl and Mount Sinai. I worked closely with the client through the design process and exceeded my client's expectations with the cover.
